Track Name: Do You Like Me
pancake likes the syrup
pigeon likes the dirty street
do you like me?
Track Name: I Don't Like You
I don’t like the photographs
I don’t like the cd case
I don’t like the cigarette smoke

I don’t like the Super 8
I don’t like the dinner buffet
I don’t like the speaker phone,
My voice, an echo across the room

For the girl in the background
Making racket, I can hear her
As you’re cutting all the fat away
from your steak, she drinks your beer

Happy Anniversary
Nobody knows but me
Just how messed up we were
Those few months before the war

If I knew then, what I know now
I would’ve taken scissors and cut you right out
Kept the picture of me smiling by myself
All of the shadows on the grass are lovely
When you’re fading to the background

I don’t like the symmetry of the patterns
in the wallpaper
you said these things don’t last forever
how does that make this feel better

I don’t like abbreviations
In the letters that you wrote me
Everyone knows love is short,
Forgetting takes eternity
Track Name: Kalmia Street
Avocado sandwiches for breakfast
Using newspapers for napkins
A bed made out of blankets
A loose rusted bike chain
I’m trying on your jeans while you’re still asleep
I’m using your toothbrush to keep my teeth clean
I keep my things in a separate pile from your things

Never knew how fast I was going
Until I turned so sharp I lost my balance
I’ve had practice going at much faster speeds
Do you believe me?

You stay just a few feet ahead of me
I’m on autopilot watching you
Navigate us through the city

Tijuana on the fourth of July:
We took the trolley from downtown
So we’d miss all the fireworks
We were drinking beer with the stray cats
In an empty parking lot

And it felt like we had posed
To take one of those photos
Changed by sepia tone, antiquated (faux)
Framed by makeshift gates around the suburb homes
In the dusty hills of Mexico

Never knew how fast I was going...

But it happened so quick
That I had to stop
